The editor of the news website Hamrakura.com, Siwakoti was awarded the Courage Journalism Award for his 'daring journalistic work' that exposed the alleged wrongdoing of the then Speaker Mahara and eventually forced him out of the office. The Award carries a purse of 1,000 US dollars.

Journalist Siwakoti had brought out the account of victim—a female staff at the Parliament's Secretariat—through the media. While handing over the prize and a felicitation letter, veteran human rights activist Krishna Pahadi said press is one of the important forces of change. He suggested to press to exercise restraint in all circumstances.
