KATHMANDU, May 19: Chairman of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal (JSP-N), Upendra Yadav, has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court (SC) demanding that seven lawmakers who defected from the party be barred from parliamentary activities.
In the writ petition filed on Sunday, Chairman Yadav requested an order from the apex court to bar the defected lawmakers from participating in parliamentary activities. The petition specifically names seven lawmakers, including Ashok Rai, and seeks to prevent them from voting and engaging in other parliamentary activities when Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal faces a vote of confidence.

Claiming that the defected lawmakers have lost their positions as members of the House of Representatives(HoR), Chairman Yadav argued that their votes should be disqualified even if Prime Minister Dahal receives their support.
According to the Supreme Court’s Information Officer Govinda Prasad Ghimire, the apex court has scheduled the hearing for Monday.
