SC to conduct hearing on JSP Chairman Yadav's writ petition today

KATHMANDU, May 20: The Supreme Court (SC) is scheduled to hear a writ petition filed by Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav today. The petition demands that seven MPs who left the party be barred from parliamentary activities.

KATHMANDU, May 20: The Supreme Court (SC) is scheduled to hear a writ petition filed by Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Chairman Upendra Yadav today. The petition demands that seven MPs who left the party be barred from parliamentary activities.


Chairman Yadav filed the writ petition on Sunday, seeking to prevent the MPs, including Ashok Rai, from participating in the voting process and other parliamentary activities during Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's vote of confidence scheduled for today.

Govinda Prasad Ghimire, the Supreme Court's information officer, confirmed that the hearing is scheduled for today.


Previously, Chairman Yadav had filed a writ in the Supreme Court seeking an order to stop the registration of the new JSP party formed by the MPs and leaders who had left his party. The apex court then ordered the Election Commission to maintain the status quo on the party registration process.
