NRB governor urges microfinance institutions to opt for merger
Governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank Chiranjivi Nepal on Friday appealed all the microfinance institutions (MFIS) to opt for merger. Speaking at an interaction in the capital, the governor of the central bank said that the merger between the MFIs is essential for their sustainability as the market is already overcrowded with MFIs. Governor Nepal said that NRB has a plan to establish banks and microfinance institutions at all local levels by the mid-July this year.

Former education minister Poudel dies of heart attack
Former Education Minister and ruling Nepal Communist Party leader Dhaniram Poudel died in Chitwan after suffering a heart attack on Friday morning. He was 53. Poudel died of cardiac arrest at his home at 7 am today, according to NCP's district chairman Yam Bahadur Pariyar.The family members rushed him to Madi-based Bagauda Hospital after he suffered cardiac arrest.

The Bibeksheel Nepali Party has urged the government to withdraw the proposed Guthi bill tabled in the Federal Parliament. Issuing a press statement on Friday, the party suggested the government to draft new Guthi bill in consultation with concerned stakeholders.
