Karki continues lead over Nepal number one Shrestha

DHARAN, Dec 29: Amateur golfer Tanka Bahadur Karki continued his lead over Nepal number-one  Shivaram Shrestha and another amateur Sukra Bahadur Rai in the ongoing Surya Nepal Eastern Open on Thursday.

DHARAN, Dec 29: Amateur golfer Tanka Bahadur Karki continued his lead over Nepal number-one 

Shivaram Shrestha and another amateur Sukra Bahadur Rai in the ongoing Surya Nepal Eastern Open on Thursday.


On the second day of the event at Nirvana Country Club, Dharan, Karki carded second three-under 67 to take a two-stroke lead over Shrestha and Rai. Karki is at seven-under 133.

Shrestha scored one-under 69 for a total of five-under 135 while amateur Rai carded two-under 68 for atotal of five-under 135. Sanjay Lama scored even-par 70 for a total of three-under 137 to be at fourth place. Bhuwan Nagarkoti (66) and Shiva Kumar Majhi (68) are tied fifth at one-under 139. Local Amateur Niraj Tamang (67) and Local pro Bal Bhadra Rai (70) are tied seventh at even-par 140.


Jaya Ram Shrestha (73) and Deepak Magar (70) are tied ninth at one-over 141.A total of 61 golfers including 30 pros and 31 amateurs are taking part in the fourth event of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2017-18. 


The winner of the tournament being organized by Nepal Professional Golfers Association under the sponsorship of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, will bag a purse of Rs 115,000. Likewise, second and third-placed golfers will be given Rs 74,000 and Rs 53,000 respectively.
