JUMLA, Aug 20: The transportation on the Karnali highway, which was obstructed due to landslides for the past 2 months, has resumed from Saturday.
The highway was obstructed after landslides hit Kolkot, Jubitha VDC and Rachuli VDC in Jumla district.
With the resumption of the highway, cargo trucks and passenger buses have reached Khalanga VDC whereas the buses have left for Surkhet and Nepalgunj from the district headquarters, Khalanga.
Karnali highway resumes after two days
Min Bahadur Thapa, chief of Karnali Transport Entrepreneurs Association, Jumla chapter, said, "While the road was obstructed, Karnali transport system ferried passengers till Khallagadh by using two vehicles. Kalikot-Khallagadh road section is the most precarious part of Karnali Highway."
The transportation has now resumed after the debris was removed with the help of excavators.
In addition, the delay in the construction of more than half a dozen bridges has also added further problems to the locals.
"Minor landslides will not affect the daily lives of the local people and cause obstruction in transportation in the coming days," says CDO Rudra Prasad Pandit.
The black-top has come off and the road is badly battered because of landslides according to locals.
