Karnali local units prioritize infrastructure development

SURKHET, June 22: local units in Karnali province are preparing their budget focusing on the development of infrastructures including roads, drinking water, agriculture and tourism.


The province capital of Karnali Province, Birendranagar Municipality is preparing a budget of about Rs 930 million focusing on city management. “We are preparing a budget centered on city management,” Mayor Dev Kumar Subedi said, “We have included plans to make the city managed, green and beautiful.”


Gurvakot Municipality of Surkhet is preparing a budget with the primary focus on the development of infrastructures. Three road projects have been selected to be named as projects of pride. “Bheri bank tourist road, a road in Dharapani Rural municipality which is yet to be connected by road and Chhinchu-Ghariban-Kalimati road have been selected to be plans of pride,” said Mayor Hasta Pun, “The budget is going to be focused on these three projects.” The municipality is preparing a budget of about Rs 470 million.

All the nine local units of Surkhet are preparing their budgets focusing on the construction of roads and infrastructures. “Road is the primary necessity for development and prosperity,” Chairperson of Chijang Rural Municipality, Dev Bahadur Chand said, “Therefore, we have focused on building roads.” He added that the last budget tried to incorporate too many fields which resulted in an unsuccessful budget; therefore this budget is focused on building roads.


Similarly, the local units of Dailekh too are focusing their budget on the construction of infrastructures. Narayan Municipality of the district is giving continuation to “One ward, one road” campaign. “We are focusing on the improvement of the quality of previously constructed roads,” Mayor Ratna Bahadur Khadka said, “We are planning to improve the roads so that they can be used throughout the year.” He added that the other focus of the budget include Ring Road construction, development of tourism and development of infrastructures. The municipality is preparing a budget of about Rs 357 million limiting itself to the budget allocated by the central and provincial budget.


Other municipalities in the district too are preparing their budgets focusing on construction of various infrastructures. Dallu Municipality is preparing a budget of about Rs 380 million focusing on roads, electricity and tourism. Bhagwati Rural Municipality is preparing a budget of about Rs 250 million focusing on the development of agriculture. Thatikadh Rural Municipality is going to focus on drinking water management.


All local units of Kalikot are preparing their budget focusing on roads. The total budget of the local units in the district is allocated to be Rs 883 million. District headquarters Khada Chakra Municipality is preparing a budget of about Rs 380 million with the primary focus on constructing at least one road in every ward. Sani Triveni Rural Municipality of the district too is focusing on roads and is preparing a budget of about Rs 180 million.
