KATHMANDU, Jan 18: Nepal Chamber of Industries and Commerce Kathmandu (NCICK), a district chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has expressed deep concern over the defamation of Ananda Raj Batas and his Batas Organization by the media without any concrete proof over the dispute of a cafeteria being built on the premises of the Narayanhiti Palace Museum.
Issuing a press note on Tuesday, NCICK termed the situation as ‘humiliating’, which has ‘intimidated and terrorized’ the whole private sector. “The government of Nepal had issued a tender for the Narayanhiti Palace Museum and rightfully allowed the Batas Organization to operate the cafeteria as mentioned in the agreement. Only after obtaining legal permission did the Batas organization build the cafeteria in the area. On the basis of various groundless accusations and reports, the government blamed the state and the people for the business and did not even give a chance to explain the structure under construction. The union feels that the demolition has curbed the free trade and investment climate in the country,” the press note reads.

Similarly, NCICK has urged the government to look into the matter as soon as possible by requesting the bodies concerned to be sensitive so that the state can investigate the illegal activities and activities as per the law in a planned manner and find out the truth and take action against the culprits and provide compensation to the aggrieved businessmen.
Stating that the situation has deeply concerned the private sector, NCICK mentioned that such acts could spread a bad word about the lack of free and secure investment in Nepal at the national and international level.
Furthermore, NCICK stated that it will unite the private sector to organize programs against such trends and acts.
