KATHMANDU, June 3: The Road Division Office, Kathmandu, has started blacktopping the road in the New Road area that was demolished by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) for expanding the footpath. After the metropolis disregarded the instruction given by the Road Division Office to repair the road, the Division Office started blacktopping the road itself.
The Road Division sent letters to the metropolis stating to repair the blacktopped road that was demolished by the metropolis.

The metropolis demolished the blacktopped road of Bishal Bazar from Indra Chowk towards Juddha Salik to expand the footpath on May 25. During this time, the Division Office also took control of the construction material of the metropolis.
On the same day in the afternoon, the metropolis disposed of the garbage and dust at the Department of Roads and the Road Division Office, Kathmandu. So, there was a dispute between the metropolis and the Road Division office. Balen also raised a question to Raghubir Mahaseth, the Minister for Physical Infrastructure & Transportation in the context of Chakrapath road.
Later on May 29, the Division Office sent a letter, instructing the KMC to repair the blacktopped road to its original state within two days. Pramod Khatiwada, the information officer of the Road Division Office said that “the metropolis did not respond to the letter. After waiting for the next three days without any action, we commenced blacktopping the road this morning.”
Mayor Balen is annoyed after the Road Division Office started blacktopping the road.
