The Valley’s COVID-19 caseload reaches 23,960 as death toll stands at 140


KATHMANDU, Sept 30: Of the 1,559 new cases of COVID-19 recorded across the country on Wednesday, 902 cases were detected in the Kathmandu Valley alone. This accounts for 57.86 percent of the total cases detected across the country.

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 697 people in Kathmandu, 93 in Bhaktapur and 112 in Lalitpur were diagnosed with the COVID-19. With this, the number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in the Valley has reached 23,960.


The MoHP also recorded three cases of fatality linked with COVID-19 in the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday. A 54-year-old man, 34-year-old and 86-year-old woman from Kathmandu district succumbed to COVID-19. A total of 140 people have died of COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley as of Wednesday afternoon.


The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley – Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur – are among the districts with the highest numbers of COVID-19 cases in Nepal in recent weeks.
