KATHMANDU, Jan 22: A key leader of the Nepal Communist Party (Dahal-Nepal faction), Jhala Nath Khanal has expressed hope that the dissolved House of Representatives will be reinstated through the Supreme Court verdict.

Addressing a mass gathering organized by the faction of his party, Khanal, who is also a former prime minister, said that they have faith in the apex court.

"Today's Supreme Court is not like that of the monarchical rule. This is a court which is guided by the constitution which we promulgated after the Second Janaandolan. The court can’t give a verdict by going beyond the constitution. There is no alternative to the restoration of parliament through the court verdict. People are well aware of what sort of verdict the apex court justices deliver," he said.

On a separate note, Khanal said that the Election Commission will eventually recognize the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP as the legitimate party.

He also termed the Oli-led faction a small splinter group of the party. Saying that Prime Minister Oli pushed the country toward political instability by dissolving parliament, Khanal said that they are against this "unconstitutional, undemocratic and regressive move".
