"This accident has raised various questions not just on drivers but on local authorities too and we are just seeking for those answers," said Dev Narayan Pramani of Bodebarsain, Saptari, who lost his four nieces in the accident. This accident has caused an unbearable loss to his family.

"We don't want any other family to go through this tragedy for which the government needs to find out the causes and adopt effective measures,” he added.

Locals have accused the bus driver of carrying more number of passengers than the capacity of the vehicle due to temptation of earning more money.

"Thirty one people were killed, 15 were injured and two are still missing. Is a bus allowed to carry so many passengers?" Parmani questioned. He further stated that this is a crime and the criminals deserve punishment.

As per the statements of the injured, there were passengers even on the roof of the vehicle. They stressed the need to tighten security checkings by traffic police. Among the 31 deceased, nine of them were from Bordebarsain alone. Some of the locals of Tilathi claimed that the driver could not flee the scene due to the prompt action from local authorities.

As the dead bodies of the deceased were handed over to the family members, Saptari which had the highest number of deceased, remained grief-stricken. Altogether 24 passengers of the district lost their lives in the accident.

Various organizations released a press statement in regard to the accident demanding investigation.
