KATHMANDU, June 28: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has started a campaign in the form of Dengue Prevention Measures. The health department of the metropolis has mobilized a team of 622 people for the campaign to destroy the habitats and larvae of mosquitoes that spread the disease.
Rishi Bhushal, the focal person of the Dengue Control Campaign, informed Republica that a campaign to spray chlorine powder, destroy the larvae and increase the awareness of the community to avoid the disease has been started.
According to him, 64 health workers and 558 women health volunteers have been mobilized in the campaign which will be conducted in all wards of KMC from July 9.

In the same way, the campaign is working to clear water-logged potholes on roads, remove water from water containers, tires and other places, and inform the general public about the breeding system of mosquitoes and the conditions that can spread the disease.
He said that arrangements have been made at the health promotion center for the examination and treatment of patients with symptoms of the disease.
24-hours hotline
A toll-free hotline telephone number 1180 is open 24 hours a day for counseling about dengue. He said that arrangements have been made to call the 102 number and use an ambulance free of charge to go to a hospital.
Arrangements have been made for the distribution of essential medicines such as Cetamol and Jeevan Jal, which are required for the treatment of dengue, at health promotion centers.
