KATHMANDU, Nov 12: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has escorted floral vendors, who were doing business in random areas, at specified sales points to sell flower garlands.
KMC police chief Raju Nath Pandey stated that the vendors who sell flowers and garlands in various places were taken to the designated sales places along with the goods in the vehicles of the Metropolitan Police Force.
KMC's floral vendor management sets a positive trend
According to the Mayor of Kathmandu, Balendra Shah, in the joint effort of the KMC, Floriculture Association of Nepal (FAN) and Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC), arrangements have been made to sell flowers only from the premises of Bhrikutimandap, Tinkune Chaur, Handigaun and Balaju Valley Cold Store on the exhibition route.
According to the Chief of Metropolitan Police, Pandey, vendors who came to sell flowers and garlands had reached various locations, including New Road-Asan-Indra Chowk area. "As the vendors were not aware about the designated sales points, they were escorted to the designated sales locations by securing transportation from the Metropolitan Police Force. Our team has assisted the vendors to ensure the transportation of flowers at the specified sales point, as well as to load and unload the flower and garlands to the designated sales point," stated Pandey.
According to the KMC, only Nepali flowers will be sold at the designated locations throughout the city. For this, a joint team of the KMC, FAN and the NCC will monitor and oversee the sales process.
