Nepal Police conduct check at 600 locations daily, vehicle patrols conducted 426 times a day

KATHMANDU, July 29: Nepal Police conduct checks at an average of 609 locations daily. This increased activity has led to a rise in the seizure of illegal goods.


According to the Nepal Police headquarters, revenue collection totaled Rs 6.63 billion from March 24, 2023, to March 13, 2024. Of this amount, Rs 2.75 billion was generated from the seizure of illegal goods.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dan Bahadur Karki stated that traffic police and other officers perform daily checks at 609 locations, including vehicle inspections and investigations following incidents.


Each day, about 3,110 police personnel are involved in these checks. The number of checkpoints and deployed personnel increases during special occasions and festivals.


Nepal Police also conducts vehicle patrols 426 times a day. A total of 2,608 officers on two-wheelers and four-wheelers are engaged in these patrols, with more frequent activity occurring at night.


In addition to vehicle patrols, the police conduct foot patrols, with an average of 4,021 officers patrolling more than 1,000 times nationwide. In rural areas, separate patrols, known as rural patrols, are conducted. A total of 2,167 officers carry out these patrols 712 times. Additionally, 18,000 pickets are mobilized daily.
