KMC finds Tukucha River after excavating Jai Nepal Hall

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: A team of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has excavated the compound of Jai Nepal Cinema Hall and found the initial course of the Tukucha River.

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: A team of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has excavated the compound of Jai Nepal Cinema Hall and found the initial course of the Tukucha River.


Based on the marking done by the metropolis according to the map, the Tukucha River was found after digging 15 feet on the hall premises by using a dozer, according to the metropolis. The Tukucha River, which came out of the Narayanhiti Darbar area, had disappeared in this area.

The local residents had been demanding excavation since then, claiming that structures have been built by encroaching upon the river


The metropolis had issued a notification on July 28 and instructed to remove the encroachment of Tukucha River. After the expiration of the 35-day notice, the metropolis has started excavation and search operations in the area of the encroached areas.
