Koshi Hospital brings COVID-19 hospital with 62 beds into operation in Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR, May 22: Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar has built a COVID-19 hospital, including ventilators and 62 beds to treat the COVID-19 infected patients.

BIRATNAGAR, May 22: Koshi Hospital in Biratnagar has built a COVID-19 hospital, including ventilators and 62 beds to treat the COVID-19 infected patients. 


The COVID-hospital was inaugurated by the mayor of Biratnagar, Bhim Parajuli, and Medical Superintendent of Koshi Zonal Hospital, Dr Chumanlal Das. The COVID hospital has medical oxygen, ventilator and high dependency units (HDUs).

According to Dr Das, the first floor of the hospital houses 32 beds with oxygen in two blocks. Similarly, the second floor includes 5 beds with ventilators and an HDU with 25 beds. Dr Das said that patients affected by the virus can now receive services provided by the hospital. Treating COVID-19 patients will be easier once the new unit comes into operation, he added.


The rate of infection in Biratnagar and Province 1 is on the rise in recent days. As many as 1,200 new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Province 1, and over 350 cases in Biratnagar alone on a daily basis.
