SINDHULI, June 19: The mid-hill highway has been disrupted by landslides and persistent rainfall. The roads along the highway are visibly blocked.
Landslides have disrupted the schedule of the drivers moving along the Khurkot-Ghurmi road, a stretch on the mid-hill highway. According to locals, a machine-carrying trailer was buried in the landslide.
Rain-triggered landslides block Kanti Highway
According to the District Police Office, Sindhuli, the highway has been obstructed due to landslides at Kaliap, Akkarebhir and Kudule of Golanjor Rural Municipality.
The chief of the District Police Office, Sindhuli, Govindaraj Kafle said that the mid-hill highway has been blocked near a place called Sumanam due to the landslide. He said that the trailer was buried in the landslide debris at Kaliap, Golanjor Rural Municipality-1.
However, no loss of human life has been reported, he said. He also stated that the mid-hill highway gets obstructed due to landslides even after a brief rain as the rural roads built in the villages near the highway are not properly managed.
