Lawmakers blame delayed construction behind growing accidents

KATHMANDU, March 2: Lawmakers from different political parties have drawn the attention of the government and parliament over the growing number of road accidents. They blamed government bodies and construction companies behind delayed construction of roads.

KATHMANDU, March 2: Lawmakers from different political parties have drawn the attention of the government and parliament over the growing number of road accidents. They blamed government bodies and construction companies behind delayed construction of roads. 


They argued that it was delayed construction of road which has caused road accidents in the far west hilly districts. The government was demanded to enforce the law effectively and upgrade road soon.

Speaking at the special hour of the House of Representatives meeting today, the lawmakers demanded action against the construction company because the jeep accident killing 11 persons was occurred in Darchula due to the recklessness on road construction. 


"Local people have been bearing the brunt of the recklessness of contractor," said Ganesh Singh Dhagunna, adding that government must provide appropriate compensation to the victim families. 

He expressed worry why the Darchula-Tinker road section of the Mahakali Highway is not completed despite the passes of 12 years since its beginning. 


Dilendra Prasad Badu also asserted that is the sheer carelessness of road constructor behind the jeep accident in Darchula on Friday night. He blamed the government for not paying attention to it though he repeatedly voiced on it.  RSS
