Lawmakers criticize govt over inaction on loan sharking issues during zero hour

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The lawmakers speaking during the zero hour of parliament on Sunday criticized the government for lacking seriousness in addressing the issues faced by the victims of loan-sharking, cooperatives, microfinance and the problems of dairy farmers.

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The lawmakers speaking during the zero hour of parliament on Sunday criticized the government for lacking seriousness in addressing the issues faced by the victims of loan-sharking, cooperatives, microfinance and the problems of dairy farmers.


During the zero hour, lawmakers used to raise the challenges faced by their constituencies. However, the lawmakers highlighted these concerns as a priority during the meeting of the House of Representatives on February 25.


The lawmakers expressed disappointment over the government’s failure to resolve the problems of victims of loan-sharking, cooperatives, microfinance, and dairy farmers, which remained unresolved for an extended period.

The parliamentarians said that the lack of resolution to the issue of problems faced by victims of loan sharking has led the victims to resort to demonstrations in Kathmandu once again.


The lawmakers stressed that although the government talks about good governance, the problems faced by the victims of loan-sharking, cooperatives, microfinance, and the problems faced by dairy farmers have not been resolved for almost a year.
