KATHMANDU, July 2: Lawmakers from various political parties have taken strong exception to the regulations suspension proposal.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives in New Baneshwar on Monday, Nepal Workers and Pageants Party (NPWP) Lawmaker Prem Suwal came down heavily on the government’s preparation to bring regulations suspension bill arguing that suspending regulations and specifying prohibited zones is against the norms of democracy.
Suwal further said that the parties which are now in the government had protested against the then restrictions and suspension rules imposed by then King Gyanendra.

They should not repeat the same what once they had protested in the name of exercising power, Suwal added.
Suwal vehemently stated that declaring restricted zones and imposing restrictions on mass meetings and demonstrations is undemocratic. “Our party NPWP does not support this proposal.”
Echoing to Suwal’s views, Rastriya Janamorcha Lawmaker Durga Paudel said it is undemocratic to impose restrictions on demonstration and mass meetings and added that her party strongly protests against such proposal.
A proposal on suspending regulations and imposing restrictions on demonstration and mass meetings was submitted in the meeting of the House of Representatives today.
Lawmakers Krishna Bhakta Pokharel, Sher Bahadur Tamang also expressed their views on the proposal in the meeting.
