KATHMANDU, August 17: The names of 28 players of the men’s national football team, which is preparing for the SAFF Championship, have been made public. Head coach of the men’s national team Abdullah Almutairi has announced the 28-member squad from the preliminary squad.
In the second round, star strikers Bharat Khawas, George Prince Karki, Rajiv Lopchan, Sanjog Rai, Tridev Gurung, Rajin Dhimal, Sesehang Aangdembe and Bikram Lama along with goalkeeper Bishal Sunar are out of the preparations for the championship.
New-look Nepal takes on Maldives today
The 13th edition of the SAFF Championship is being held in the Maldives from October 1 to 13. In the runup to the championship, Nepal will be playing two friendly matches with India. The matches will be played at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu on September 2 and 5. Currently, the Nepali team is training in Pokhara to prepare for the championship.
Four goalkeepers Kiran Kumar Limbu, Deep Karki, Bikesh Kuthu and Arpan Karki have made it to the second round for the championship. Other members include Suman Aryal, Dinesh Rajbanshi, Gautam Shrestha, Ananta Tamang, Rohit Chand, Surajju Thakuri, Suman Lama, Kamal Thapa, Nitin Thapa, Tej Tamang, Rajan Gurung, Pujan Uparkoti, Bishal Rai, Santosh Tamang, Sujal Shrestha, Sunil Bal, Manish Dangi, Anjan Bista, Ayush Ghalan, Nawayug Shrestha, Ashish Lama, Abhishek Rijal and Shishir Lekhi have made it to the second round.
