Locals gear up for conservation of natural heritages

MYAGDI, Oct 3: Acknowledging the importance of nature and natural heritages, locals of Jyamarukkot and Malika rural municipality in Myagdi district have taken matters into their hands to protect the nature and natural heritages in their locality.

MYAGDI, Oct 3: Acknowledging the importance of nature and natural heritages, locals of Jyamarukkot and Malika rural municipality in Myagdi district have taken matters into their hands to protect the nature and natural heritages in their locality. 


They have resorted to community-based natural heritage conservation approaches and practices to curb the illegal trade of medicinal plants, flora and fauna in the community forests her.

Member of conservation campaign, Kopila Kandel, said that that they launched the drive to conserve the natural heritages in their locality as the wildlife in the forests were becoming extinct lately. 

"We are also planning to streamline the collection of herbal plants," she shared. 


Locals said that there were around 24 kinds of medicinal plant species in and around the forest area situated at the altitude of 2,500 metres above the sea level.(RSS)
