KATHMANDU, Aug 26: The ongoing prohibitory order issued by three District Administration Offices in the Kathmandu Valley has been extended for a week, until mid-night September 2.
The ongoing lockdown enforced to curb the further spread of COVID-19 in the Valley was due to end on mid-night Wednesday has been further extended for a week as the number of cases has been increasing in three digits daily.

On Tuesday, Kathmandu alone recorded 232 new cases of COVID-19.
Earlier on Tuesday, District COVID-19 Crisis Management Centers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur held a joint meeting and recommended the DAOs to further extend the ongoing lockdown.
All the services except for essentials and emergencies have been restricted to operate during the lockdown period. Markets have been allowed to open till 9:15AM. With the exception of shopping for groceries and medicine, movement of people has been banned.
