UK court acquits Col Lama in one case

LONDON, Aug 2: Old Bailey Central Criminal Court has acquitted Nepali Army (NA) Colonel Kumar Lama in one out of the two cases of war crimes filed against him for alleged torture during the decade-long armed conflict in Nepal.

LONDON, Aug 2: Old Bailey Central Criminal Court has acquitted Nepali Army (NA) Colonel Kumar Lama in one out of the two cases of war crimes filed against him for alleged torture during the decade-long armed conflict in Nepal.



Although, he is acquitted by the court, he can’t leave UK until the court delivers its verdict on the second case.  



The 12-member jury of court on Tuesday declared him not guilty in a case filed by Karam Hussain after hearing the case for seven weeks.



The court was expected to deliver its verdict on both the case, but the jury failed to come to a conclusion. The hearing on the second case will resume on the first week of September.
