KATHMANDU, Oct 18: Military chief from the Maldives, Ahmed Siyam, paid a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari at the latter's residence, Shitalniwas, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, discussion was held on further strengthening the bilateral relations between Maldives and Nepal, said the Office of the President.
Also discussed during the meet was the strengthening of relations and bilateral assistance between Nepal Army and the Maldivian Army, said a press release issued by Prahlad Prasad Pudashaini, Under-Secretary at President's Office.
Also present on the occasion were officials from Maldivian Army and high level officials at President's Office.
Meanwhile the visiting Maldivian Army Chief Siyam met with his Nepali counterpart Chief of Army Staff, Rajendra Chhetri at Army Headquarters on Tuesday itself.
During the meeting, CoAS Chhetri briefed the visiting Maldivian Army Chief about the lessons Nepal Army learnt from earthquake and other contemporary issues.
Earlier, Siyam garlanded the Bir Monument at Army Pavilion, Tundikhel.
