Mammoth menace in Saptari, two houses damaged

RAJBIRAJ, July 4: A herd of wild elephants that came from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve wrecked havoc in a village in the eastern part of the Saptari district last night.

RAJBIRAJ, July 4: A herd of wild elephants that came from the Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve wrecked havoc in a village in the eastern part of the Saptari district last night.



The mammoths that came out of the Reserve in two groups are learnt to have damaged the houses of Ganesh Poudel of Fattepur, Saptakoshi Municipality-2 and Ramchan Sada of Kanchanrup Municipality-6 in the district, according to Police Inspector Gaurav Mahat.



Although no casualty was reported in the incident, the tuskers damaged the food items, utensils, clothes and other household goods.



The locals together with a team of police of Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, chased away the wild beasts back to the Reserve. RSS
