“Writing was a struggle. I would set aside a certain time of the day to introspect, think and write, but it was not an easy process,” Manisha said. Healed is Manisha’s journey from being diagnosed with stage-IV ovarian cancer to her cancer-free days. In between, the book also touches upon her life as a child in Kathmandu, living a dream life in Mumbai, parties and some of the bad choices she made along the way.

“Once I settle things with my own life, I would love to adopt a child,” she said. During an hour-long conversation, Manisha stressed the need for a strong family and friend circle to support, care and love in difficult times. “I was extremely lucky to have undying support of family and friends as I was going through cancer treatment.”

“I want the young people to explore life, lead a healthy life and surround yourself with good people,” said Manisha when asked about her words of wisdom for today’s youngsters. She also urged the new generation to take care of their body, mind and soul.

When asked if she is still interested in politics, she said, “I don’t like the game involved in politics. That is not for me, but I cannot discount it entirely.”

Manisha fondly recalled growing up with her grandparents, BP and Sushila Koirala. “BP Ba used to come home like a wind and leave. There were hundreds of people at home.”

Manisha wants people who are struggling with deadly disease like cancer to read Healed and derive all the strength they can get from her journey.
