Maoist Center Chair Dahal urged to prioritize sports sector

KATHMANDU, December 21: Various organizations associated with the sports sector have urged the CPN (Maoist Centre) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' to place the sports sector in special priority.

KATHMANDU, December 21: Various organizations associated with the sports sector have urged the CPN (Maoist Center) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal to place the sports sector in special priority. 


The office-bearers of the National Sports Council and representatives of Nepal Sports Federation close to the CPN (UML) and All Nepal Sports Federation close to the CPN (Maoist Center) called on the former Prime Minister at his residence at Lazimpat and made this request.

On the occasion, the NSC officials and the representatives of sports organizations recalled that the government led by Dahal had set history by declaring volleyball as Nepal's national game. They also underscored the need for formulating and implementing an effective plan of work for the development of sports in the coming days. 


They also drew the Maoist Centre chairman's attention on the need of increasing investment in the sports sector which enhances the national dignity. 


The NSC officials and representatives of the sports organizations said that government and the government bodies should pay greater attention to the sports sector, hoping that the leftist alliance government to be formed in the coming days. 


Chairman Dahal, after listening to them, said that the upcoming government would carry out works backed by a special work plan for the development and expansion of the sports sector.
