KATHMANDU, March 27: The CPN (Maoist Center) has decided to participate in the forthcoming by-elections in Illam and Bajhang districts, scheduled for April 27.
During a meeting of its office-bearers, the party resolved to nominate candidates for both Illam-2 and Bhajang-1 constituencies. However, the final selection of candidates is yet to be made.
Maoist Center to support UML candidate Nembang in Ilam-2
According to Harka Bahadur Nembang, the party’s Koshi Province chairman, the names of Direndra Sharma Timalsina, Urmila Tamang, Om Bahadur Gurung, and Kumar Baraili have been recommended for candidacy.
In contrast, the CPN-UML has already decided to field Suhang Nembang, the son of the late UML leader Subash Nembang, in the Ilam-2 by-election. Additionally, the Nepali Congress is expected to nominate Dambar Bahadur Khadka as its candidate.
Meanwhile, the Rastriya Swatantra Party and CPN (Unified Socialist) are still in the process of selecting their candidates for the upcoming by-elections.
