KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah has approached the Supreme Court against the fine imposed by the Election Commission. Shah has requested the constitutional bench of the Supreme Court to trash the commission's decision.
Shah has knocked on the apex court’s doors against the EC’s decision to ban 123624 of the candidates who participated in the local elections from all over the country from participating in any election for six years if they do not pay the fine.
Who are the Courts for?
Saying that the court should clearly explain the matter, Mayor Shah claimed that the Election Commission is trying to forcefully implement a provision which is mentioned neither in any law nor the constitution.
Mayor Shah has requested the court to issue an urgent and appropriate interim order.
