Measles cases detected in Jhapa

JHAPA, Jan 19: Cases of measles have been detected in two of the 15 local units in Jhapa district. 


Immunization officer at the District Health Office, Jhapa, Raj Kumar Pokharel, said cases of measles were detected in Jhapa Rural Municipality and Birtamod Municipality.

He shared that seven measles cases were recorded in two weeks in the district - six cases in Jhapa Rural Municipality and one in Birtamod Municipality.


Three members of a single family were also found infected with measles in the course of conducting blood tests at Sharanamati health post.


Similarly, a five-year-old girl of Birtamod Municipality-3 was found suffering from measles. Measles was confirmed in the girl in the course of conducting blood tests at Birtamod Municipal Hospital. The girl was brought to the hospital two days ago for treatment. The girl has now been kept in isolation.
