What transpired during the meeting between the former Maoist leaders is not known. But the meeting that came in the wake of parliament dissolution and speculations that the entire peace process that brought the then underground Maoists into mainstream politics could be derailed has been seen with keen interests in the political circle.
While Dahal used to the top leader of the rebel party, Bhattarai served as his second-in-command. Vice President Pun was the chief of the Maoist's People's Liberation Army when the party joined the peace process after reaching a Comprehensive Peace Accord with the government in November 2006. How the ongoing transitional justice process will conclude following the dissolution of the parliament has been seen with much interest both within Nepal and beyond.
