KATHMANDU, Jan 22: In a meeting of the Shekhar Koirala faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) on Sunday, the role played by the party in recent times has been questioned.

In a meeting held in the capital, questions were raised about the vote of confidence given by NC to PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Chandra Bhandari, a leader of NC’s rival faction, said that the discussion was held because NC was in conflict. He said that there was a discussion among the party workers, voters and leaders about the failure of the party to move forward with a clear vision.

“Why is the NC in confusion? The question of why there are no forces to walk with a clear vision has started to arise among the general party workers,” he said, figuratively, “The forest has been lost but you are still looking for the trees.”

Bhandari said that there is a need to be clear about whether NC will stay in the hope of getting the Presidency in future or stay in the opposition.

“NC sitting in the opposition or still hoping to get the presidency, is this NC’s history? Is it what NC fought for? We have held a meeting to answer all these questions,” he said, “We have not held a meeting to shock, insult or make anyone uncomfortable.”

MP Bhandari said in the meeting that NC should not forget its history and made it clear that the meeting was not held to insult and make others uncomfortable.
