Melamchi drinking water will be brought to Kathmandu Valley within stipulated time: Minister Chaudhary

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: Minister for Drinking Water, Umakant Chaudhary has said that the government is committed to bringing the water of Melamchi to Kathmandu within the stipulated time.

KATHMANDU, Feb 27: Minister for Drinking Water, Umakant Chaudhary has said that the government is committed to bringing the water of Melamchi to Kathmandu within the stipulated time. He claimed that the work at the Melamchi Drinking Water Project has been intensified to provide drinking water to Kathmandu before the designated time period. 


Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of Nepal Water Supply Corporation in Kathmandu, Chaudhary reminded that Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba had addressed the nation to make the Melamchi drinking water damaged by floods and landslides available to the people of Kathmandu by making necessary arrangements and reiterated that there would be no delay in the management of drinking water.

Minister Chaudhary also announced the formation of the Drinking Water Tariff Assessment Commission in a few days. Stating that the commission has been vacant for some years now, he said that the government has started the process to complete it.


Minister Chaudhary also alerted the Nepal Water Supply Corporation and Department of Drinking Water to expand the 'One House, One House' program across the country. Currently, the service has come into operation in 23 different cities of the country.
