KATHMANDU, May 31: After the completion of regular maintenance work at Melamchi water supply project, water has been sent to Kathmandu. The water distribution was closed for maintenance from May 20.
Padam Bahadur Kunwar, senior divisional engineer of the project, said that the water has been sent to Kathmandu since Monday evening.

Earlier, the water supply was stopped as some equipment needed to be installed at the source and headworks of the project located at Helambu-1. The equipment was installed and maintenance work done so as to keep the project operational even when there might be a minor flood during the upcoming monsoon.
