Ministerial portfolios vacated by Maoists reallocated

KATHMANDU, July 14: After ministers from CPN (Maoist Center), a major coalition partner in the current government, submitted their resignations on Wednesday, the ministerial portfolios held by them have been transferred to leaders from the CPN-UML, the party leading the government, and other remaining coalition partners.

KATHMANDU, July 14: After ministers from CPN (Maoist Center), a major coalition partner in the current government, submitted their resignations on Wednesday, the ministerial portfolios held by them have been transferred to leaders from the CPN-UML, the party leading the government, and other remaining coalition partners.



Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday accepted the resignations of eight ministers from the Maoist Center and entrusted their ministries' responsibilities to others, informed Chetan Adhikari, press coordinator of the prime minister.



Prime Minister Oli informed about the change in the cabinet to President Bidya Devi Bhandari following the reshuffle.



According to Adhikari, Prime Minister Oli has kept the ministry of general administration, which was overseen by Rekha Sharma, under himself.  



Likewise, Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachchhedar has been assigned the ministry of forest and soil conservation, which was led by Agni Sapkota.



Ministry of Home Affairs, which was overseen by Shakti Basnet, has been given to Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Rawal.



Similarly, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel will be overseeing the energy ministry; Minister for Commerce Dipak Bohora the ministry of supply; and Law Minister Agni Kharel the education ministry.



Minister Ram Kumar Subba has been entrusted the responsibility of the ministry of irrigation and Minister Santa Manabi has been assigned the ministry of agriculture.
