Minor arrested for sexual abuse following social media outrage

POKHARA, March 19:  A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by the police following a viral video on social media accusing him of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl.

POKHARA, March 19:  A 16-year-old boy has been arrested by the police following a viral video on social media accusing him of sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl. 


According to Kaski Police Spokesperson DSP Shravan Kumar BK, the video went viral on social networking site Tiktok after the victim girl, who was living in Kaski, posted about the alleged sexual assault. The police said that they started an investigation after many people shared the video.

DSP BK said that the the police approached the victim girl for  investigation and the alleged abuser was arrested on the basis of information given by the victim.


A video had gone viral on social media since Saturday. “The attention of the police came after many people shared on Tiktok that a 14-year-old girl had been sexually assaulted,” said DSP BK, adding, “"We got to know a lot about the incident after the police got in touch with the family of the victim girl."


Police have not revealed when the incident took place. DSP BK said that the victim filed a complaint with the Kaski Police only on Sunday under the heading of child sexual abuse. DSP BK said that the abuser was taken into custody after a complaint was filed by a relative. According to the police, the accused also lives in Kaski.
