KATHMANDU, Sept 7: The weather across the country is expected to experience varying degrees of change today, ranging from partial to normal. Presently, light rain is falling in some areas within the Koshi and Bagmati provinces. The Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) within the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reports that the monsoon low-pressure system is currently positioned in the southern region, near Nepal.
According to the officials of the MFD, there will be partial to general rainfall across the country this afternoon. There is a chance of light to moderate rain with thunder/lightning at a few places in Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces and at one or two places in the remaining provinces. Also, there is a possibility of wind storms in a few places in the Terai area of Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
Heavy rainfall likely in Koshi and Madhesh provinces today
Tonight, the country can expect partly cloudy skies. According to the DHM, there is a chance of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms in some areas of the Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, as well as one or two spots in the remaining provinces.
Over the last 24 hours, reports suggest that light to moderate rain, along with thunder and lightning, has been observed in a few places within the Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as one or two areas in the remaining provinces. Additionally, the MFD has cautioned that wind and storms may occur in certain locations in the Terai region of Madhesh Province and Koshi Province.
Residents in these areas are strongly advised to remain vigilant, as increased water levels in rivers, coupled with potential rainfall, can pose risks of flash floods, landslides, and soil erosion.
