Monitoring in border districts in wake of bird flu outbreak in India

CHITWAN, April 6: A high-level technical meeting held on Thursday in Chitwan decided to monitor districts like Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi and Chitwan adjoining India in the wake of a bird flu outbreak in Indian borders. It also directed staying on high alert.

CHITWAN, April 6: A high-level technical meeting held on Thursday in Chitwan decided to monitor districts like Rupandehi, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi and Chitwan adjoining India in the wake of a bird flu outbreak in Indian borders. It also directed staying on high alert.


A joint team from the Central Veterinary Laboratory, Teku and the survey group will monitor the districts.

Preventive measures have been taken in the bordering districts after holding a meeting of the bird flu control coordination committee under the chairpersonship of respective Chief District Officer, said Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Dr Bimal Kumar Nirmal, adding that supply of poultry items have been banned from India following the incident. 


Recently some days ago, a huge quantity of chicken meat imported from India was destroyed in Chitwan. 


The Laboratory Chief Dr Dikar Dev Bhatta confirmed that samples from the bordering districts have not shown any trace of tvian influenza. RSS
