Monkey menace in Arghakhachi

ARGHAKHACHI, Aug 8: Monkeys have become a nuisance for farmers in several villages of Arghakhachi district. Wild monkeys come in troops and destroy their agricultural products, mainly corns.

ARGHAKHACHI, Aug 8: Monkeys have become a nuisance for farmers in several villages of Arghakhachi district. Wild monkeys come in troops and destroy their agricultural products, mainly corns.


One local of Malarani Rural Municipality got killed while chasing away monkeys from his corn field.

The deceased has been identified as Bijaya KC of Amiley, Malarani Rural Municipality-2. He fell off a cliff while chasing monkeys that came in a large number to his field in the backyard. Monkeys have been destroying crops in different villages.


The local government has been taking various measures get rid of the monkey menace in the villages.


Sandhikharka and Chhatradev rural municipalities were unable to curb the monkey menace despite hiring monkey chasers in different villages a year ago, said Mayor Kamal Prasad Bhusal of Sandhikharka Municipality.
