KATHMANDU, July 18: In the last fiscal year 2022/23, the police arrested 5,611 people on the charges of being involved in drug dealing and consumption.
According to the Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal Police, 3,771 cases have been registered against them.
Combined efforts sought to control drug abuse
According to Superintendent of Police Chakraraj Joshi of the bureau, 18,022 kg of marijuana, 528 kg of hashish, 14.35 kg of heroin, 14.567 kg of cocaine and 34.258 kg of opium were recovered from them.
According to Joshi, during that period, 62,279 ampoules of Brufen, 67,434 ampoules of Diazepam, 34,829 ampoules of Phenergan, 1,5,444 tablets of Nitravet, 10,797 tramadol, 8,951 bottles of Corex and Dilex and 501 kg of khat were seized.
