KATHMANDU, Feb 19: Arun Kumar Chaudhary, a member of the House of Representatives and whip of Nagarik Unmukti Party, was released from prison today after being granted executive clemency by President Bidhya Devi Bhandari on the occasion of National Democracy Day 2079 BS.
Chaudhary who was in Kailali jail was released from the district administration office today after completing the necessary procedures. The President has given clemency to 395 prisoners on the occasion of Democracy Day.
Meanwhile, MP Chaudhary accused other parties of taking political revenge. Chaudhary has responded that he was put in jail to seek political revenge. He said, "The way I was imprisoned seems to be a political revenge and the practice of trying to suppress newly emerging parties does not look good in Nepali politics.”

Chaudhary was arrested and presented to the District Court in Kailali on February 3. He was found guilty by the District Court, Kailali, in the arson case nine years ago.
On August 19, 2010, Mahadev Bajgain filed a case against Pasuram Chaudhary and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary, along with MP Arun Chaudhar at the Kailali District Court for torching his tractor on August 18, 2009.
On April 13, 2013, the Kailali District Court sentenced three people, Parshuram Chaudhary and Bir Bahadur Chaudhary, including MP Arun Kumar Chaudhary, to six months in prison.
