MPs clarify over their Latvia visit

KATHMANDU, May 17: Following controversy over their participation in a function linked to free-Tibet movement in Latvia, Parliament Secretariat on Thursday summoned lawmakers Pradip Yadav and Iqbal Miya for questioning.

KATHMANDU, May 17: Following controversy over their participation in a function linked to free-Tibet movement in Latvia, Parliament Secretariat on Thursday summoned lawmakers Pradip Yadav and Iqbal Miya for questioning.

Sources said the lawmakers in their clarification said they had reached Latvia to participate in the event on May 7 but quit the event on the same day after learning that it was linked to the free-Tibet movement.


Government officials say participation of lawmakers or government officials in such events goes against Nepal’s commitment to one-China policy.
