TEHRATHUM, Sept 14: The Myanglung Municipality in Tehrathum has announced to provide cost of transportation in an ambulance to the pregnant women visiting the District Hospital for giving birth to their babies.
Deputy Mayor Parbati Sanu Dangi said that the municipality has already decided to bear the travel cost as per the bill incurred while visiting the District Hospital in the ambulance by the pregnant women. Deputy Mayor Dangi added the programme was unveiled to make the safe maternity service further effective in the municipality.

The government has been providing Rs 2,000 to each woman as the travel cost after taking safe maternity service from the healthcare organizations.
Meanwhile, the municipality decided to halt the collection of taxes imposed on stones, pebbles, and sand collecting from the local market (hatiya). For now, the municipality decided not to implement its decision following the protests from the municipality dwellers terming it impractical, Mayor Sanjaya Kumar Tumbahamphe said.
Earlier, the municipality was also criticized for collecting tax even from the small vendors selling vegetables in the hatiya observed on every Friday. RSS
