NAC calls for bid to buy three aircraft

KATHMANDU, Oct 22: Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has released a bid invitation for the purchase of three new aircraft, as announced in a public notice.


The bidding process, which commenced on Sunday, October 22, is open until December 5.

A recommendation made by the Structural and Managerial Study Committee of NAC led to the decision to divest shares in Soaltee Hotel and redirect the funds towards the acquisition of new aircraft.


During a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee under the House of Representatives, Sudan Kirati, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, revealed that the government is in the final stages of acquiring three TwinOtter aircraft. These aircraft will be dedicated to serving remote airports and enhancing connectivity.


He further disclosed that the NAC has initiated the procurement procedure as part of its mission to expand its domestic flight network, focusing on connecting with 22 domestic destinations. Presently, NAC operates domestic flights with two TwinOtter aircraft.
