KATHMANDU, July 21: A NAC’s aircraft is preparing to leave for China today to get more vaccines procured earlier by the government.
According to the Logistic Management Section under the Department of Health Services, 800,000 doses of Vero Cell will be brought in the second phase. Upendra Dhungana, Administration Chief of the Logistic Management Section, said that another 800,000 vaccines will be brought as per the capacity of the aircraft and the capacity of authorities in Nepal to conduct vaccination programs.
NAC aircraft flying to China today to bring COVID-19 vaccines
The Department said that the aircraft will go to China to get additional 800,000 doses within this week. Department Chief Dhungana said that a total of 1.6 million vaccines will arrive in Nepal within this week. Vaccines from China will be sent to Province 1, Sudurpashchim and Karnali Provinces, where the vaccination campaign is currently underway.
Dr Jhalak Sharma Gautam, chief at the Child Health and Immunization Section of the Department of Health Services, said that the vaccines will be sent to the states where the campaign has not been conducted before. The campaign will be conducted on the basis of priority again.
According to the Logistic Section, Japan is expected to provide 1.6 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility within two weeks. China will provide the remaining vaccines in a phased manner.
