KATHMANDU, March 23: The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) and Himalaya Airlines have started their homework for regular flights from the Gautam Buddha International Airport (GBIA).

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has instructed both the companies to keep their base in Bhairahawa and operate regular flights, said Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson for the authority. He said that both companies have already started their homework to start regular flights from the GBIA.

“We have given instructions to submit the documents along with the flight style,” said Niraula, “Both companies are yet to come in the process for the slot.”

Himalaya Airlines had started a regular flight three months ago, while NAC had advanced the flight plan. However, due to adverse weather conditions, Himalaya Airlines has suspended its regular flights.

Similarly, Jazeera Airways, which has been operating regular commercial flights since last May, is currently operating three flights a week. This airport has been in operation for about a year.
