KATHMANDU, Jan 6: The political parties within the ruling coalition, which have agreed to contest the upcoming National Assembly elections scheduled for January 25 together, have submitted their respective claims regarding the number of seats.
During a meeting on Saturday morning at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar, the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP), and CPN (Unified Socialist) Party asserted the number of seats each party should receive out of the 19 seats designated for the National Assembly elections.

Sources within the meeting disclosed that the NC has demanded 13 seats, the CPN (Maoist Center) has claimed 7, while the JSP and CPN (Unified Socialist) Party each claimed four seats.
"After presenting their claims in the current meeting, the four parties will meet again at 4 o'clock in the afternoon. Following that, a meeting with other parties involved in the government will take place at 5 o'clock," stated the source. "The matter might be resolved today. Otherwise, it could extend until tomorrow," the source added.
