‘National Drama Festival-2019’ with an objective to create a common platform for dramas kicked off on Monday. The festival is taking place at Sarwanaam Theatre, Kalikasthan and is organized by Nepal Academy of Music and Drama.
National drama festival kicks off in Pokhara
Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Music and Drama, Narayan Bhakta Shrestha and literary figure and folklore expert, Tulsi Diwasa jointly inaugurated the festival by lighting the lamp.
Amidst the inauguration ceremony, Shrestha said that the festival aimed to influence the audience through the blending of music and drama. He shared, “This festival is about celebrating the collaboration of music and drama, from diverse parts of Nepal. I hope this festival will bring good vibes of unity among the audiences.”
He added, “The credit behind the successful opening of the program goes to Nisha Sharma Pokharel, the organizer of the program and the head of the Department of Drama and Nepal Academy of Music and Drama.”
On the first day of the festival, the drama ‘Pampaphul’ presented by Karnali Theatre Kalakunja, Mugu was staged. That was followed by a felicitation program for the performers of ‘Pampaphul’. The seven-day drama festival will showcase seven different dramas each day representing different parts of Nepal.
The festival is slated to run till June 23.
